For my Mum!

OK. So perhaps I should have called this blog my 'weekend' project! Oh well.
Anyways, I decided to make my mum this little book as I have already sent things to my dad and sister so it really is mum's turn to get something. I am not sure where I got the inspiration from to make a thank you type book, but the more I thought about it the more I thought mum would really appreciate something like that. It would also be totally unexpected as it isn't her birthday OR Mother's Day yet!
The book is 4"x4" which made it a fun little size to play around with. I cut out pieces of white thin card at 8"x4" and then scored it down the middle to fold it into a square. I then layed the 4 pieces flat on top of one another making sure the folds were lined up. I then pierced 2 holes along the score about 2" apart to be able to thread a piece of floss through. The floss was then tied to hold all layers together.
Then I just cut out corresponding pieces of paper to cover each page and distressed them with my favourite chestnut roan ink. I made the text boxes in Microsoft word and thought really hard about what to Thank mum for. Just kidding. It was easy! I then printed the text boxes out onto white card, cut them out neatly and distressed them again.
I probably could have added a lot more little embellishments but my mum's not into 'all that'.
To make the cover monogram I used Making Memories chipboard letters and covered the 'm' with paper, added a few bits of ribbon and bob's your uncle! Then I stamped 'mother' with little alphabet stamps.
I'll let you know what her reaction is once I mail it!

Hi Michelle! Your future hubby shared your gorgeous blog with me, I hope you don't mind me sneaking in! I love this book. Your stuff looks like it should be in a magazine! You're really great with the distressing inks. Do you use a brush, sponge, finger, etc? How many hours did you put into this project? It looks super! I wish I could find more time for crafting. I haven't made anything in so long. Ugh.
